Sentencing Issues

We call CLTL an alternative sentencing program because our hopes are that criminal offenders will be sentenced to complete the program as a condition of probation rather than go to prison. But CLTL programs are not always run on this model, and the issues surrounding "sentencing" are neither simple nor are they universally agreed upon. At the core of CLTL is the hope that our students will not return to stand before the judge, but how to make that happen is still up for discussion, as you will find in the essays in this section.
